On August 12, we are hosting an opera gala in the large hall of Alandica. As our guest artist, we have managed to secure
a true world star. Camilla Nylund, originally from Vaasa, is one of todays foremost sopranos. You can experience her on
stages such as La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera, and the Vienna State Opera.
She will be coming to Mariehamn
directly from Tristan & Isolde in Bayreuth. In Mariehamn she will perform alongside Åland singers Sofie Asplund,
Philip Björkqvist, Björn Blomqkvist, Jenny Carlstedt, Albin Jansson, and Dan Karlström.
The symphony
orchestra "Ålands Festspelsorkester" will accompany the performance, conducted by Alberto Hold-Garrido (ao.
positions, formerly chief conductor of the Stockholm Opera,).
The evening will be filled with romances,
operettas, and opera; from "Till havs" and West Side Story to Isoldes Liebestod. Wagner, Verdi, Puccini,
Mozart, and not least Richard Strauss. The final scene from Rosenkavalier with Sofie Asplund and Jenny Carlstedt will be
one of the absolute highlights.
